SEE WHERE YOU ARE IN THE - SIX TO FOLLOW - LAST UPDATED ON THE 9TH SEPTEMBER
MONDAY 29TH SEPTEMBER
HOUSE OF LORDS was our last runner on Friday still left to report on and sadly the visor did not work the trick with him and did not improve his run. He took quite a keen hold in mid-division but had to be ridden over two furlongs out to maintain his position and he weakened inside the final furlong eventually finishing seventh. He definitely has the capabilities and should certainly be winning in these types of races. He has taken the race well and hopefully he will be able to win again before the Horses in Training Sales at the end of October. On Saturday we sent three runners up to Haydock and they all had good chances but sadly the racecourse's official going when they had been declared had been good and was now firm and so a decision was made to withdraw all three as they all would want cut in the ground. This left us with two runners at Ascot where OAT CUISINE was trying her hand in listed company. She ran a good race and was always up with the pace. With an outside draw it was always going to be tough for her and she ran with much credit. Hopefully we will be able to find a similar listed race for her and hopefully things will go in her favour. Later on the card it was great to see FURNACE win again. His owners have been so patient after two setbacks but they are reaping there rewards now and what a tough genuine little horse he is to bounce back after these setbacks. He was in the group on the stands' side got a good lead from the front running Tamagin. He tracked this particular horse and was in a good position pretty much throughout. Hayley had to switch him when the early leader began to tire he found plenty and just got the better of Relative Order in a driving finish. It was a great ride by Hayley who is doing so well at the moment.
On Sunday we sent out METAPHORIC in the listed Fenwolf Stakes. Jamie Spencer had settled our horse on the rails and was only around three lengths off the lead as the field bunched up. Jamie gave everyone some anxious moments as he forced our horse through some tight gaps two furlongs out He then managed to squeeze through between Sagara, ridden by Frankie Dettori, and the inside rail passing the furlong pole. It was a clever piece of riding and when it comes off it shows just how good Jamie Spencer can be.
We have had no runners today but tomorrow we have NIGHT KNIGHT running at Warwick and we are hoping that this qwerky character can put his disappointing effort at Doncaster on his racecourse debut can be put behind him and he will give a better account of himself. At Southwell we run MEZZANISI and we are hoping that he can get his head in front after some very consistent efforts. On Wednesday we send GOLDRENCHED up to Newcastle and she should have a good chance on her form and also SAVANNAH POPPY shares the journey up north with her and she should also have a good chance. Our only runner close to home is SICILIANDO who we hope will appreciate the step up to a mile and a quarter in the nursery here.
FRIDAY 26TH SEPTEMBER
We only had the one runner yesterday in the form of ITALIAN GODDESS at Great Leighs in the 8.50pm race. Sadly she failed to shine having taken quite a strong hold in the early part of the race. It has been a real problem to settle this particular filly in her races and when Hayley pushed the button she failed to find anything and had to settle for eighth place. She has now returned to her owners stud where hopefully she can be successful in whatever she does next.
Today we have seen GREAT CHARM run a good race on ground a lot firmer than his form suggests he would like. He was held up in midfield and made some headway in the middle part of the race. He pressed leaders and was ridden over one furlong out but did not have the pace of winner. He kept on under pressure inside the final furlong. We have also had WOOD CHORUS run in the listed race and sadly she did not run her best race. She was always fairly handy but when asked to go, she found nothing and came home towards the rear of the field. She may have just found the ground a bit to firm for her liking.
Tomorrow we see the quick reappearance of Squiggle who has been upped in class to listed. It would be really fantastic if she could get in the frame as she has been so consistent this year and she certainly deserves to take her chance. Later on the card at Ascot we have FURNACE running and we are hoping that he can keep his winning run going. At Haydock we introduce two really nice two year olds. In the fillies race we have PIQUANTE a really nice filly by Selkirk who has been pleasing us in her work at home. If she does not run to green we expect a good run from her. ADVISOR is a really good looking french bred colt by Anabaa and he is a horse who will be really nice for next year. He has been going well in his work and again we think he will give a good account of himself. Later on the card SUMMERS LEASE makes her long awaited reappearance and we are hoping that the ground will not be to firm for her. She has taken her race really well and we are sure that she is a very nice filly.
WEDNESDAY 24TH SEPTEMBER
Sadly the conditions at Beverley were not suitable for HOH MIKE to take his chance after the track received a fair amount of rain overnight and the going was changed from good ground to soft ground which he hated running on last time he ran at Beverley. It was disappointing as he looked to be coming back to himself at Yarmouth last time and he would certainly have been suited by the five furlongs. He will now possibly go for the Rous takes at Newmarket on the 2nd October. We did run EDDIE BOY and he showed significant improvement from his last run to claim third spot. He looks as though he will be suited by further as he was never far away and kept staying on. He still showed signs of greenness and is certain to come on again for the run.
Today we have seen another filly show some improvement from her two previous effort in MARYQUEENOFSCOTS who although dropped into claiming class she ran well staying on in the later stages of the race. She was being kept up to her work in the early part of the race and she looked to be outpaced with two left to run. She then ran on again to take fourth spot. It is definite improvement and hopefully we will get a win out of her before the season ends.
Tomorrow we have just the one runner when ITALIAN GODDESS run at Great Leighs. She has not been given the kindest of draws but hopefully this will mean that Hayley can get her dropped in and can hopefully come with a run which she should like. She is a filly who should be winning races so hopefully this will be her day.
On Friday we have GREAT CHARM running at Ascot where the ground may just be to firm for him to show his best and WOOD CHORUS who can hopefully add to her black type by running well in the competitive listed race. In the evening we have HOUSE OF LORDS running and hopefully the application of the first time visor will work the oracle for a horse who has masses of ability but may just not want to use it.
MONDAY 22ND SEPTEMBER
SQUIGGLE (Oat Cuisine) was our only runner at the weekend and she has brought us up to the 66 winner mark. Our filly really seemed to appreciate the good gallop that was set. She was reverting back to the mile and she ran on strongly to wear down the leader inside the last furlong and notch up her hat-trick of wins. She is a progressive filly and can hopefully continue in this vain of form until the end of the season.
Today we have had two runners at Kempton both having already had one run each on the racecourse so far. The first of these fillies to run was the nicely bred filly CAUGHT ON CAMERA who ran very green at Windsor first time out and dropped out quite tamely. She showed a much better account of herself today having always been up with the running. She stayed on well and took seventh position. This division of the maiden looked a tough little contest with the winner Ave looking like a very decent filly. We were pleased with the way she run and hopefully she can improve again from this and we will be able to find a winning opportunity for her. ACT GREEN ran in the second division of the maiden and she to showed significant improvement from her first run to take fifth position. She did not get the clearest of runs and stayed on well in the closing stages of the race. On this evidence she should certainly be capable of winning her maiden.
Tomorrow we have two runners at Beverley when HOH MIKE make his reappearance after his second at Yarmouth last week. He should certainly appreciate the step back to five furlongs and hopefully it will be his day at Beverley tomorrow and he will get back on track. We also run a nice two-year-old colt called EDDIE BOY who missed the break at Newbury last time and ran very green. He has improved for the run and we expect a lot better from him here.
On Wednesday our only runner is MARYQUEENOFSCOTS who heads to Redcar to compete in the claimer at the track. She is such a sweet filly who has not shown much so far this season but hopefully she is starting to come to herself now as she has been in good form at home.
FRIDAY 19TH SEPTEMBER
We were delighted to see ALLIED POWERS putting up such a good performance at Ayr when he won easily yesterday. He was given a really good ride by Micky Fenton and the victory never looked in much doubt. He has returned this afternoon and looks in fantastic form and hopefully he can continue in this vain of form until the end of the season. DRESDEN DOLL was our only runner at Pontefract and she was ridden by the good five pound claimer David Probert who felt that the ground was to soft for her and on a firmer surface she would have been a lot closer. He also suggested giving her a run on the all weather. Last night we had MILANOLLO run and we thought she would run well as she has been doing some pleasing work at home. She did not run well and she is a filly that is quite confusing to understand. Today we have seen RED HORSE run and he again ran quite greenly. He is definitely a horse who will be better next year once he has strengthened up as he is still slightly on the weakside but he show promise at home. He is learning all the time and is certainly capable of winning races. Our only other runner at Newmarket was ORBITOR who was making his racecourse debut. He ran a nice introductory race and was running on quite nicely at the end. He seemed to take a while to get going and was very green at the start of the race but when the penny finally dropped he was running on nicely. I don't think that he would want the ground any firmer than it was today. REGIME ran a good race on ground that certainly was firm enough for him. He looks as though he is possibly suited better by ten furlongs rather than the eleven that he was running over today. He is a real tryer and hopefully we can get a another win out of him before the end of the season. We have just seen INK SPOT run at Ayr. He was settled out the back by Frederick Tylicki and was asked to go with two furlongs left to run. The first two came a long way clear of the field and INK SPOT could only manage to grab third space. Thankfully he finished in the prize money as it costs afortune to have a runner in Scotland.
We only have one runner tomorrow in OAT CUISINE who is working well and looks in good form after her recent win at Lingfield. Hopefully she can keep in this form and continue to add to her career wins record.
WEDNESDAY 17TH SEPTEMBER
We have had a busy couple of days with three runners yesterday at Yarmouth and then two at Yarmouth today and two at Sandown. Yesterday we sent our recent Warwick winner LA ADALITA to Yarmouth where we thought she would have a good chance. She ran really well and was possibly the ground was faster than ideal having one of softer underfoot conditions. She was finishing well towards the end of the race but just could not get up to catch the eventual winner. She has taken the race well and is still entered in the Tattersalls Timeform Fillies 800 which could her next target. CALYPSO CHARMS was given a lovely ride by David Probert and he managed to get her settled at the back of the field which really helped her chances. She came with a run and looked as though she may just get up but sadly the line came to soon. She sadly has not returned to us as she was claimed and we wish her new connections every success with her. HOH MIKE has been dissapointing this season and we felt that this was his best chance of getting back into winning ways. He looked as though he was going to achieve this but seemed reluctant to go past the eventual winner. He has taken the race well and is entered at Beverley on Tuesday.
Today we have seen a runner for some new owners to the yard Mr & Mrs Marco Moretti when there filly SOFONISBA was making her racecourse debut. She was prominent for a long way and then looked ot have got tired inside the final furlong. She is a nice filly who is sure to come on from the race and will be a nice three-year-old prospect. BARBARY BOY was dropped into claiming class. Sadly the ground had dried up and Sandown and he certainly would have appreciated it a lot softer. He ran a good race but could only manage third. We have just seen AURA run and she to has been dropped in class. She failed to make any impression and has been claimed after her run. We are hopeful that she can supply her new connections with some fun. Our final runner of the day was FOUR WINDS who was making his re-apperance after his third at Newmarket. He ran a really good race showing significant improvement from his first run to win in nice style. We will see how he has taken the race before coming up with another plan for him.
Tomorrow we have ALLIED POWERS running at Ayr. He has taken his race at Doncaster well and he should have an outstanding chance here we hope! We also have DRESDEN DOLL running at Pontefract where she is not without a chance and MILANOLLO running at Great Leighs. It would be nice to get a win out of her as she is a well bred filly. On Friday we introduce a nice newcomer to the track in ORBITOR who has been working nicely at home. He is still slightly on the greenside but is certainly a nice horse in the making. We also have RED HORSE running at Newmarket where hopefully he will show improvement from his first run. At Newbury REGIME is our only runner in the Group 3 Arc Trial and he will be ridden by Hayley Turner. It is so amazing how far Hayley has come and she deserves everything that she is getting as she is a such a nice person who goes about her business in a professional manor and is very good at what she does. Finally we have INK SPOT who we are hoping will keep a fantastic run going for his lovely owners Mr & Mrs Bone who won the Portland Handicap last week with Hogmaneigh. Hopefully INKY wil start what could be an excellent Ayr meeting for them as Hogmaneigh takes his chance in the Ayr Gold Cup
MONDAY 15TH SEPTEMBER
We kept up the pace in the quest to beat our record of 74 winners in one season on Saturday when BATTLE OF HASTINGS won bringing our total for the year so far of 63 winners. BATTLE OF HASTINGS was settled off the gallop and he showed signs of greenness when asked to pick up. He stayed on well to chase the leaders down and was really motoring inside the last furlong. He looked to have won fairly comfortably and his pedigree suggests he could be the type to improve over further next season. Our only other runner on Saturday was KINGS BASTION and he was always in the rear and when asked for effort he did not really seem to find anything. It was a bit disappointing as we know he is better than this run suggests. Today we have seen BUSSELL ALONG who had been doing some nice work at home beaten tamely in her first outing in nursery class. She was settled towards the rear of the field and she made some headway but failed to make any impression and finished eighth. It was disappointing as she has been showing better work at home than she showed in her race. ARTSU gave a good effort taking fourth place in his race later on the card at Leicester. He looked as though he may muster a challenge with two to go but just weakened inside the final furlong.
Tomorrow see the reappearance of the nice filly that won her maiden at Warwick LA ADELITA and we are hopeful that she will give a good account of herself here tomorrow. She won nicely here and she looks as though she has improved in her homework. CALYPSO CHARMS has been dropped into selling company and hopefully this will be her level that she can win at and finally on the card we have HOH MIKE who certainly should be winning races but seems to have lost his way at present, hopefully this will be the day with conditions in his favour when he can get back on the winning trail.
FRIDAY 12TH SEPTEMBER
We have had quite a successful Doncaster so far with two winners and a second. The first of our winners came by the way of BALLANTRAE who ran nicely in the opener on the first day of the meeting. She travelled well through the race and was still on the bridle passing the two furlong pole whilst her rivals were all under pressure. She found plenty throughout the last furlong and won very nicely. Yesterday we started the meeting with GULL WING who we thought would have a decent chance as the conditions were in her favour. Sadly she refused to race which was really frustrating and as soon as the stalls opened she just did not jump and was quite happy to watch what was going on around her. Its frustrating as we have no reason to think she would do this as she has never done it before and she has been in such good form at home. Our second runner on the card was BRAE HILL and we were delighted with the way he ran in conditions that would not suit him. He came home in third place and on firmer ground you would have fancied him to be a lot closer. MONTRACHET went is search of some elusive black type but sadly found a hot listed race and could only run her race. It would be so nice to see her placed in good race as she is such a consistent sort she certainly deserves it. It was heartbreaking to watch ALLIED POWERS race as he ran so well and deserved to win but sadly had to settle for second.Once committed for home approaching the last two furlongs, he looked to have the race in the bag but despite keeping on very bravely he had the victory snatched from him on the post. He has taken the race well and is entered on Thursday at Ayr where he could take his chance. GREAT CHARM ran slightly disappointing as he had been in such good form at home. He was travelling well in the first part of the race but when asked for effort he did not find much to make any impression. He looks to be a horse that is happier running in smaller fields. Last night we had one runner at Great Leighs in LOVEINANELEVATOR and she travelled well enough but could find no extra in the straight. It was a disappointing run as we have always liked this filly and at the beginning of the year we thought she would win races.
Today we have another four runners at Doncaster and we have had mixed fortunes. BAHAMIAN BABE could be showing the effects of a long tough season as she struggled in the opener to have any effect on the race. She is a real tryer and I would have been lovely to see her run better but she would not have liked the ground. THE BETCHWORTH KID was our second runner on the card today and he ran a blinder. He was given a lovely confident ride under Hayley Turner and was the last horse off the bridle. He was kept up to his work and scored his victory in awesome style. He seems to have relished the step up in trip and loves the soft ground. JUNIPER GIRL gave another solid effort to grab fourth position in the Group 2, Doncaster Cup. She has had a long lay off and is still not a 100% fit. She had a good blow after the race and this hopefully will have put her spot on for later in the season. She has a heart of a lion and is a real tryer. DOVE MEWS was not given the best of rides and was switched late on and lost her chance. She ia really nice two-year-old and to see her run like this was frustrating but no gaps appeared and it was all over to quickly for her. TOPAZES run was far better than his placing suggests as he was subject to a blanket finish and settled for fifth. He was unlucky and it was another sound run from the horse.
Tomorrow we only have two runners in KINGS BASTION at Goowood and BATTLE OF HASTINGS at Doncaster. They will both love the conditions and so we are hopeful of good account from them both.
WEDNESDAY 10TH SEPTEMBER
We have had a quiet few days with only one runner on Monday and one runner today after the meeting at Warwick was abandoned. Things then start getting crazy for the rest of the week with runners everywhere.
On Monday we had BUBSES BOY running at Folkestone and he showed much more improvement from his previous run at Yarmouth when he was well beaten. He ran very green on this occasion and it looked here at Folkestone if the penny has finally started to drop with him. He is now eligible for a handicap mark and we will see how the handicapper rates him before making further plans for him.
Today we have BALLANTRAE running at Doncaster. She looks to be a nice filly and her last start is best forgotten as she is certainly better than this run suggests. She has been working nicely at home and so fingers are crossed for a big run from her. Tomorrow things get manic with five runners at Doncaster and one at Great Leighs. GULL WING is our first runner at Donny and she is running in a tough little contest. The conditions are certainly in her favour and so we are hopeful she will give a good account of herself. BRAE HILL is in the big sales race at the meeting and he will not really like the soft ground but is certainly capable of running a big race. MONTRACHET is trying to get the black type that she need to enhance her stud value. She is a consistent sort and definitely deserves to take her chance and hopefully it could just be her day. ALLIED POWERS has been in great from in his homework and he is another who should relish the conditions at Doncaster. He also has the services on board of Ryan Moore which should make a big difference to him and hopefully he will show that he is back to his best. Our final runners is GREAT CHARM who is in fantastic form at home and it would be nice to see him win a really decent prize after all his efforts this year. LOVEINANELEVATOR is our only runner at Great Leighs and hopefully the race will be suitable for her to another win to her record.
Today the horse worked up the Back of Flat gallop which runs parallel to the racecourse. It was a dry morning for a change and it was nice to see the two-year-olds really starting to come to themselves.
ADVISOR AND HALFWAY HOUSE
The first group to come up was ADVISOR and HALFWAY HOUSE. These look to be two really nice colts for next year as they both still look slightly on the weak side. They both worked really nicely and will probably be hitting the track in the next month or so.
BARBARY BOY AND ARTSU
The next group to work were BARBARY BOY AND ARTSU. They seems to be in good form and they seemed to love this soft ground. ARTSU is pencilled in to run on Monday at Leicester.
DRESDEN DOLL AND FAR GONE
These two fillies went nicely in partnership and DRESDEN DOLL is certainly ready for a run as soon as we find the right race for her. FAR GONE went well and she has been entered at Yarmouth next Tuesday.
PIQUANTE AND SOFONISBA
PIQUANTE looks to be a nice filly in the making and the decision to give her some time over the summer to develop looks to have been the right move with her. She worked well under Jamie Spencer as did SOFONISBA who looks as though she could be ready for a run shortly.
HOH MIKE
HOH MIKE again worked on his own and he looked to be traveling sweetly as he met the rising ground up the hill. I really hope that he can find his form and that he will get back into winning ways shortly.

MISS BROWN TO YOU AND BADALONA
These two fillies worked back along the gallops over a straight seven. There are no immediate plans for BADALONA at present but MISS BROWN TO YOU could run at Great Leighs on the 18th September. They both worked well finishing nicely together.
TOPAZES, KING'S BASTION AND INK SPOT
Two of these have races come up and they did a nice easy piece of work all finishing together. TOPAZES is running on Friday where he will hopefully have a good chance and KING'S BASTION went well and he could possibly run at Goodwood on Saturday. We have made no entries for INK SPOT so far and we will try and find another suitable race for him shortly.

AURA , SEA CHORUS AND STAR CHOICE
These three were the only horses working over the longer trip of nine furlongs and I was quite impressed with the way AURA worked under Hayley Turner. She travelled passed me nicely and was joined by SEA CHORUS and STAR CHOICE who both went well.
MONDAY 8TH SEPTEMBER
RAMPRAKASH was disappointing on Wednesday evening in his race at Kempton. He was soon chasing the leaders and was ridden with halfway still left to run. He then weakened four furlongs from home and came in last. This was a poor effort from the horse and a drop down into claiming company could be on the cards for him now. On Thursday we sent two runners to Warwick and two to Salisbury BRIGHT WIRE was our first runner at Warwick and he looks to be a little bit of a monkey. He had been working well at home but he certainly did not want to race here and Robert Havlin was at him from a long way out. This horse certainly has ability and on this run he has now booked himself a slot down at the vets to be gelded. We did have a winner at the meeting and this was provided by the decent looking filly, LA ADELITA who won her race in good style coming away from the field with the second horse by quite away. She has shaped up well from her Newbury run and looks to be a nice progressive filly. She could possibly go for the sales race at Newmarket next on the 4th October. At Salisbury it was really great to see JUNIPER GIRL back on the track and she ran her race with a great amount of credit to take fourth spot. She certainly needed the run and looked as though she just got tired inside the last couple of furlongs but stayed on well. She has taken her run well and hopefully we can win or get some black type with her before the season finishes. We also had JUST LIKE A WOMAN running at the meeting and she looked really impressive when winning her race. She was given a brilliant ride by Hayley Turner who kept her up to work and she stayed on well inside the final furlong to score her victory. It was really pleasing for her owner Mrs Hearn who also bred the filly to see her win here and she is a filly that seems to relish the easier under foot conditions.
On Friday we had another winner which has taken us to the sixty winners mark so far this season when OAT CUISINE obliged at Salisbury. She was always going well just behind the leaders and a gap presented itself on the inside as the early leader of the race hung away from the rails and she made full use of it. She seems to like the track as she has now won twice from three starts. She was given a fantastic ride by jockey David Probert who looks a really decent light weight jockey.
Saturday brought and end to our American adventure with Shaker, when she ran in the Grade One Garden City Stakes at Belmont Park. She was settled towards the rear of the field always in the last two. She came with a run on the straight and then kept on the same pace. She has now left our care to take up her new home with Roger Attwood in Woodbine and we hope he and her new connections have lots of success with her. Gill and Kevin returned back to Newmarket late last night after ten days looking after her at the track. Our only other runners in England were GOLD PROSPECT who seems to have slightly lost his way. He is a decent horse but seems to not really be in love with the game at present. In the evening we had one runner in Wolverhamptons last race under the floodlights and she too did not run to her ability finishing ninth of the eleven runners. She has taken the race well and we will see how she is before making further plans for her.

DUBAI DESTINATION EX AMICA
We only have one runner today in the shape of BUBSES BOY. He is a nice individual who should run well here today but he is still very green and takes a while to get going but is learning all the time and should be a nice three year old. We have no runners on Tuesday and then we return to action on Wednesday where we run the nice filly BALLANTRAE at Doncaster in a nursery over seven furlongs and at Warwick we have RED HORSE taking his chance where if the meeting goes ahead he should hopefully run well providing he does not get stuck in the mud. Warwick are inspecting at 8.00am in the morning so hopefully they should be able to stage the meeting.

DANROAD EX DEMETER
It is the time of year when we start getting the yearlings in and the first yearling sales in this country were a fortnight ago at Doncaster. The boss went to the sales with trainer come bloodstock agent Nick Bell and they were successful with four purchases. So we now have a DANROAD EX DEMETER, a DUBAI DESTINATION ex AMICA, a PYRUS ex CAPPADOCE and my favourite the VERGLAS ex ZAKIYAA. Nick Bell has been to view his purchases at the stud where they are currently being kept and is responsible for the following pictures.

VERGLAS EX ZAKIYYA
WEDNESDAY 3RD SEPTEMBER
BATTLE OF HASTINGS was withdrawn yesterday at Goodwood due to the ground, it was a last minute decision as the horse had been saddled but the boss was not happy with the conditions and so a decision was made to withdraw the horse. He is a nice horse, so I am sure that it was the best decision.
Tonight we have RAMPRAKASH running at Kempton in the lucky last where hopefully he will start showing some improvement to his current form. On Thursday we are delighted to see the re-appearance of JUNIPER GIRL who has not run since this time last year. She is a star filly and has been going nicely at home but she looks as though she will need the run. It would be so nice to see her pick up another good race to help with her career at stud. Our only other runner at the meeting is JUST LIKE A WOMAN and she looks to have the conditions that she likes and so we are hopeful she will run a good race. We also have two runners at Warwick where we are hopeful that LA ADELITA can show the necessary improvement from her fifth at Newbury last time to be in the frame here. She has been working well at home and fingers crossed for a big effort from her. Finally our last runner at the meeting is BRIGHT WIRE who I watched work last week and he seems to be going the right way after his first run at Newmarket. He is a nice horse but is a lazy worker. He is certainly going the right way and I think he will runner alot better here.
We have some slightly sad news in that SHAKER has been sold and has left our yard to go to America, it is a real shame that she has moved on as she was a really nice filly and was certainly unlucky not to have got black type when she was really unlucky at Ascot. She will run Saturday night in America for us before being taken over by her new connections. It has also provided Gill our traveling head girl and Kevin the lad who does her with a nice break in New York for ten days. Hopefully she will run well on Saturday and will enjoy life state side.
MONDAY 1ST SEPTEMBER
It was a quiet week last week runners wise and we did not really spring into action until Thursday when INK SPOT went up to Ayr. He was settled towards the rear of the field and was staying on at the end. It was another sound effort from the horse who in on higher mark due to his consistent efforts. He has returned from Scotland and has taken the race well and we will now have to find another opportunity for him. KING'S BASTION was our only runner on Friday at Chester. He made his effort on the wide outside on the turn for home. He was trying in the later stages of the race
and his effort is better than the result indicates. He would certainly have liked the ground softer and hopefully he will get his conditions now the autumn has arrived. HOUSE OF LORDS has proved to be a frustrating individual as he works so well at home. He seemed to get outpaced and dropped away tamely. He could be next victim to wear blinkers! On Saturday we two runners and MEZZANISI gave another consistent display taking third. He was held up early on and moved up to dispute the lead two furlongs out. He looks as though he may appreciate the step up again to a mile and a half. FURNACE was our only other and he showed he was back to his best scoring a victory at Chester. FURNACE had not won since his debut two years ago. He travelled well throughout and found plenty under pressure to hold off his rivals. Yesterday our only was CHIC RETREAT and she had been working well at home. She was always handily and then just dropped away. Hayley felt that the filly had just got tired in the last furlong.
Tomorrow our only runner is BATTLE OF HASTINGS at Goodwood. He loves the soft ground and hopefully will run a nice race after his previous victory. On Wednesday we have RAMPRAKASH running in an apprentice race where we hope that he will have a good chance. He ability he just need to use it.
