WEDNESDAY 29TH OCTOBER
We have had two runners today and thankfully one winner which has added to our seasons total. The first of the runners today was ADVISOR and he again ran an encouraging race. he looks to me to still be slightly on the weak side and I think anything he does this year is a bonus. He will definitely be a nice individual once he has strengthened up over the winter. He ran another nice race and was staying on at the end which would suggest he may want a bit further. Our winner came via ORBITOR at Great Leighs and he looks to have the makings of a very nice horse to have next year. He won in impressive style and gave much pleasure to his owners who had got to the track to watch him run so it was especially thrilling for them. He was given a lovely ride by Hayley who always had him settled just in the middle of the pack and when she asked him to go he did so in impressive fashion.

We have declared SEA CHOURS to run on friday down here at Newmarket and hopefully she is not feeling the effects of this cold spell which has hit Newmarket and will give a good account of herself in a race which looks as though she should run well in.

RAWDON AND RUBY
Today has been good day as we had our first schooling session of the season. We were very lucky to have the services of Tony McCoy who popped RAWDON over the hurdles for us. He was given a lead over the fences by M. Bell on Ruby who has aspirations of getting his amateurs license out again. As you can see by the picture RAWDON and Tony McCoy look very stylish together but then upsides the horse and rider on the right who wouldn't!
TUESDAY 28TH OCTOBER
It has been a long season and we are struggling to add to our winners total at present. The majority of the horses are running well but sadly they are just not good enough to win. On Saturday after the withdrawal of LA ADELITA due to the ground, we were left with just the one runner at Newbury in JUST LIKE A WOMAN. She ran a really cracking race and was never too far off the pace from the outside stall. She had every chance but could just not peg back the winner. She remains in decent form and hopefully we will be able to find a suitable race for her before the season ends. Yesterday we had two runners in STAR CHOICE who was hoping to help his sales credentials and EDDIE BOY. STAR CHOICE is an improving sort and he looked as though he may just drop away during the middle part of the race but he came back well to lead inside the final furlong and was just caught. It is a shame he could not go out on a win but he could be a very nice purchase for somebody. EDDIE BOY race was over before it started. He was left a long way after failing to jump with the others out of the stalls. He ran on well towards the end of the race to grab sixth. He is a nice little colt who is certain to improve over the winter.
Today we have had four runners at Yarmouth SOFONISBA took on HALFWAY HOUSE in the second race on the card with SOFONISBA coming out on top. She looked to take quite a keen hold early on and did not get a clear run when asked to make her move, She kept on well inside the final furlong but could never get to the winners. She is a nice filly and she can only improve from her runs. She will be very nice for next season. HALFWAY HOUSE chased leaders and it looked as though he was just unable to quicken with two furlongs to go. He stayed on at the one pace inside the final furlong. He is bred to stay further and like his mother and brother will improve with age. KNOCK THREE TIMES still looks quite a weak, green filly and this is how she ran. She was struggling with three furlongs left to run, but she is bred to be a better three year old and I think when she has strengthened over the winter she has the makings on pedigree of a nice filly. DRESDEN DOLL has been bit of a disappointment this year and she was raced off the pace in midfield. Jamie switched her to to race alone on far side after traveling a furlong and she was ridden and made no headway two furlongs from home.
Tomorrow we have a good chance with ORBITOR who hopefully will give a good account of himself at Great Leigh's and ADVISOR who run at Nottingham providing they survive the precautionary inspection tomorrow. They both have good chance and hopefully they can take us from the cool trainers back into the hot or at least warm!
It was a sad day yesterday as we sold a lot of the Fitzroy Horses. It was particularly sad to see HOH MIKE go as he has been with us for four seasons now. He has gone to Bahrain where hopefully he will regain his form and give plenty of fun for his new owners. Also we lost REGIME who has been an absolute star for us FURNACE, TOPAZES and even poor old KINGS BASTION. The good news is we have got ALLIED POWERS back which is good news as he has the makings of a nice handicapper/ jumping prospect.
FRIDAY 24TH OCTOBER
Things are not going as well as we had hoped at the moment as we try and beat our seasons best total of 75 and sadly our runners this week have not been able to add to our winners total. On Tuesday we had two maiden MOGGY and PINKALICIOUS running. MOGGY ran well and was well held up. She showed definite signs of ability and she could be a nice filly for next year once she has strengthened up. PINKALICIOUS seemed to run below par and we will see if anything comes to light over the next couple of days. On Wednesday we had two runners at Bath and one at Lingfield. The first of these to run was MISS BROWN TO YOU and she gave a really good account of herself considering she has been off the track for a while. With two furlongs to go she was travelling really well and I thought she may just get up but she looked as though she got tired and had to settle for third. It was an encouraging run and hopefully we can get a win out of her before the season ends. She has been withdrawn from the December Sales so hopefully she will stay in training with us next year where hopefully she will develop into a nice filly. Later on the card we had GOLDRENCHED running and we were hopeful that she would go close after her recent Newcastle win. She was always up with the pace but she was under pressure over three furlongs out and failed to run to her form and was eased inside the final furlong. At Lingfield we had OAT CUISINE who has been so consistent for us this year. She has had a terrific season and Hayley had her settled never too far off the pace. She was ridden to challenge leaving the back straight and, although she kept on for pressure she never looked like getting there. It could be that her long season is just catching up with her now but she ran well and we have entered her again on Thursday. Last night we had a late runner at Great Leigh's and after an encouraging first run at the same track. He was held up towards the rear he was ridden with three furlongs left to run and was under pressure over one furlong out. He was then well held inside final furlong. It is disappointing as we thought he certainly have a chance but sadly it was not his day. Today we have seen GREAT CHARM finish eight in his race at Doncaster. He ran well but he has ran twelve times this season, winning four times and so he has had a long season and certainly deserves a nice winter break.
We have two runners tomorrow in JUST LIKE A WOMAN and LA ADELITA and they should both run well as they have been in good form at home. It is a funny time of year as fillies start to go in there coats but these particular individuals still look well and hopefully they will keep our good season going.
TUESDAY 21ST OCTOBER
Things seem to have quietened down completely after a hectic couple of weeks with the yearling sales. We did however have two runners on Sunday at Cologne and Southwell. DIRECT DEBIT was our runner at Southwell and he did not run as well as we had expected. He was soon chasing the leaders on inside. He was hard driven with three furlongs to go but soon lost his place a furlong out. He appears to have taken the race well and hopefully we will be able to find a winning opportunity for her. In Cologne we sent MONTRACHET to run in the listed event there. We had been so hopeful of her running well to get the black type to help with her stud career and she did not disappoint. She ran a really good race and was quite unlucky not to get second but it was great after her many consistent efforts for her to achieve this. She has returned safe and well and could possibly head out to Cologne again on the 2nd November for a similar race.
We had no runners yesterday after we had to withdraw BARBARY BOY at Windsor but we do have two today at Yarmouth in MOGGY and PINKALICIOUS who should both run well. They have both come on from there debut runs and we will see how they perform today. Tomorrow we run GOLDRENCHED who is hoping to keep her winning run going at Bath. She has been in good form since her victory at Newcastle and hopefully she will be able to give a good account of herself again here. Also on the card we see the reappearance of MISS BROWN TO YOU. who has been of the track for a while. She is a nice filly and we hope that she will be able to break her maiden tag and show the promise we always felt she had. Also tomorrow we have OAT CUISINE at Great Leigh's who has been in outstanding form of late and hopefully she can keep her good vain of form going in what looks to be an ideal race for her.
FRIDAY 17TH OCTOBER
Yesterday we sent two runners to Nottingham both with chances. The first of these to run was ORBITOR who ran a really nice race on only his second outing. He was green on his debut but seemed to get the hang of things late on at Newmarket. It was much the same thing here, as he only really got the hang of things inside the final furlong and is sure to make up into a nice middle distance sort next season. HALFWAY HOUSE showed some promise just under a fortnight ago and did so again in this. He should make up into a nice middle distance handicapper next season.
Today we have seen RED HORSE give a nice introduction to race riding to Malin our new apprentice. He was always to the rear and still looks to be very green. He will hopefully mature and strengthen over the winter and will win races next season. REGIME sadly did not go out on a win for us but we did not really expect him to when the rain did not arrive. He has been such a star for the yard over past two seasons and it will be a real shame to see him sold at the end of the month. Our last runners of the day was when we had KING'S BASTION and FURNACE running in the same race. Sadly FURNACE could not keep his winning run going and he finished towards the middle of the field two in front of KING'S BASTION.
We have a quiet weekend with only on runner on Sunday. Direct Debit has been declared at Southwell where he should have a decent chance. He ran well last time at Newmarket just getting tired in the final furlong or so. He will definitely have improved for that run and hopefully he will give a good account of himself. On Monday we have BARBARY BOY running in the claimer. He has good form and hopefully a race like this should not be out of his capabilities of winning.
WEDNESDAY 15TH OCTOBER
Sadly we have no more winners to report on so far this week but we did have three runners yesterday, with one runner, running at Leicester and two runners at Newcastle. The first of these was NIGHT KNIGHT who did not run as well as we had hoped. He seemed to jump well from the stalls and was settled in amongst the pack. He did not seem to find alot and finished down the field. It was a shame he did not give a better account of himself but he is still quite big and weak and hopefully he will strenghen up over the winter and will be a nice horse for next year. At Newcastle we thought we would have a good chance with ARTSU who we thought would relish the conditions came from behind and had to make his effort away from the stands side rail. He ran a really good race for staying on so well and for finishing so close. It was fantastic to see RAWDON back on the track after his summer break and he ran really well. He travelled smoothly before making a forward move on the outside turning in. The race will bring him on and we will nw look forward to having some action over the winter with him.
Tomorrow we have two runners at Nottingham in HALFWAY HOUSE and ORBITOR. Both have come on from the runs and should give good accounts of themseleves in what look like being quite tough maidens. On Friday we have a busy day at Newmarket where we send out four runners. The first of these will be RED HORSE who we are hoping will give a nice introduction to race riding for our new apprentice Hannah Holmberg. Later on the card we have REGIME running and his chances will be improved if we recieve plenty of rain from now until his race time. In the case of FURNACE he will hoping the rain does not arrive as this will greatly hamper his chances as he runs in the handicap down here where he will be running against KING'S BASTION who is also a soft ground horse. The weather is supposed to improve here again tomorrow after having some rain today.
The time has come for the yearling sales and we have already got some really nice purchases to add to the yearligns that we brought from Doncaster. At Goffs we purchased a very nicely bred yearling colt by BERTOLINI Ex MELLOW PARK along with three other colts by FOOTSTEPSINTHESAND Ex NIGHT SCENT, WHIPPER Ex TOPIARY and SELKIRK EX DOOHULA. So far from Newmarket last week we have purchased a nice filly by GALILEO Ex MASSADA, a filly by HAWK WING Ex BALLET BALLON and a really nice colt by JOHANNESBURG Ex FOOFARAW. This week has been really hectic and busy and so far we have been lucky enough to get a good looking colt by HIGH CHAPARRAL Ex LOVE AND LAUGHTER and a nice MARJU colt Ex RAINBOWS FOR ALL.
MONDAY 13TH OCTOBER
Sadly we are having trouble with our camera at present which is why we have not been able to take any pictures of the horses on the heath. We hope to get this problem sorted out this week and then we may be able to get some pictures of the new yearlings and the runners leading up to the end of the season.
At the weekend we were hopeful of some good shows at Ascot where we thought we would have good chances with ALLIED POWERS and FOUR WINDS. We started the day with BAHAMIAN BABE who was running in the group 3 Cornwallis Stakes and she put in a good effort to take fifth place in what was a very competitive little event. She was always leading her group but could just find no more inside the final furlong and put up her best effort since her listed win. ALLIED POWERS run later on the card and he did not run his usual race but he has been a real marvel this season and maybe the ground was not as slow as he would have liked having won earlier in the month on heavy ground at Ayr. We had been real hopeful of a good show from FOUR WINDS as the form of his race has been working out really well. He did not get the best in running and was hemmed in by Akhenaten when Jamie Spencer wanted to make his move. He certainly did not get the run of the race by any means but kept on well. He is sure to improve again when stepped up to middle distances and we hope he will be a big star for next season.
On Sunday we had four runners at Great Leighs where we had been hopeful that the progressive ACT GREEN could deliver and she did not disappoint. She was sent out in front early on by Jamie Spencer to make the running. She gave us a few anxious moments of concern when she hung away to her right off the home bend, but once she straightened up into the straight, she proved much too good for these rivals. She is improving with racing and she should be a nice filly at around 1m2f next season. We also run CAUGHT ON CAMERA in the race and she has been improving every time she has run. She ran well for a long way out and she is bred to stay further and will hopefully develop over the winter into a nice filly. MARYQUEENOFSCOTS was disappointing after her decent effort at Redcar last time. She was held up in the rear and was asked for effort with two furlongs out. She was well beaten and was eased inside the final furlong. STAR CHOICE has been raised 6lb for getting off the mark on his handicap debut at Wolverhampton last time. He moved into contention on the home bend and looked dangerous, but he then couldn't go with the front pair and may need stronger handling. Our only other runner was DANCING ABBIE at Dusseldorf. Micky Fenton went over to ride her and the course was a very tight course and unfortunately she slipped on the bend and that was her chance gone. She is due to return today from Germany and we will see how she is before making further plans.
Tomorrow we have one runner at Leicester where NIGHT KNIGHT takes his chance. He ran much better last time and we feel the penny is beginning to drop with him and he is really starting to get the hang of things. We have two runners at Newcastle and these include ARTSU who should love the conditions and we are hoping with the sales coming up that he can go one better than he did at Folkestone last time and will get his head in front. Our final runner of the day is old RAWDON who we are all delighted to see back. He is due to run in preparation for his campaign over jumps but he has the ability to win as long as he wants to. We all love him to bits as he is such a character and a real star.
THURSDAY 9TH OCTOBER
Yesterday we had just the two runners at Nottingham in BIN END and ADVISOR. ADVSIOR was the first to run and was very unlucky in running. He tracked the leaders on inner rail and was switched right. He was pushed along four furlongs from home and found not much room and wandered. He was then switched to the outside with one furlong left to run and kept on inside final furlong but could not do any better than sixth. The horse did run very green and he is bound to come on from the run. BIN END ran a really nice introductory race to take third. He looks as though he would stay all day. He started towards the rear, but soon made headway over three furlongs out. He kept on well inside the final furlong.
Today we have seen SUMMERS LEASE who was a slightly unlucky filly to finish third. She was settled towards the rear of the field early on and she came through the pack well but she had left her run to late. We will see how she returns from Newbury before making further plans for her.
We have no runners tomorrow but DANCING ABBIE heads of to Dusseldorf to run at the weekend in the Group 3 Franfurter Stutenpreis. She has been in good form at home and so we expect a big run from her. On Saturday we have three runners at Ascot where we see the re-appearance of the exciting prospect FOUR WINDS. He has been working well and we hope that he can keep his progressive run going. We also have ALLIED POWERS who is fresh and well from his Ayr win and we hope that he can again enhance his value for the Horses in Training Sales by giving a good account of himself. Finally we are hoping BAHAMIAN BABE can come back to form with a good run in the tough looking Group 3 the Cornwallis Stakes. We also have three runners heading to Wolverhampton in the shape of GOLD PROSPECT who tries his luck in the claimer. He has been in good form at home and we expect a big run from him. Later on the card we introduce RED EXPRESSO who has ha d a few problems that has kept him of the track but he is a nice little horse who should run well but he may just need the run.
TUESDAY 7TH OCTOBER
We had mixed fortunes at the weekend, sadly the rain did not arrive early enough for LA ADELITA and KINGS BASTION so they were pulled out running at Newmarket which left us with just MONEYCANTBUYMELOVE who ran a really well in the big sales race to dead heat for fourth. She seemed to be much happier on this faster surface. She was chasing the eventual winner and was asked for effort with two left to run but could just not find anything more inside the final furlong. She has taken the race well and we will see how she is before deciding further plans for her. At Redcar the rain arrived to early for BRAE HILL as he is a horse who likes the fast ground and his chances were scuppered as soon as it started raining. He was always prominent throughout the race and was ridden with two left to run and he did not enjoy the conditions and dropped away inside the final furlong to finish ninth. Our sixty ninth winner of the season came in the shape of STAR CHOICE who ran a blinder at Wolverhampton. He was the least experienced member of the field and he was upped in distance on this handicap and all-weather debut. He looked as though he should stay a bit further and hopefully we will be able to win some more races with him. He is entered again on Sunday and Monday and we will look for which one is the most suitable and hopefully keep his winning run going.
We had no runners on Sunday and then yesterday we had three runners all at different meetings. The first of these was DOVE MEWS who ran a cracking race at Warwick. She ran to bad to be true at Doncaster on her previous start and we do not think that she was quite right. This was a respectable effort and we will see how she is before making further plans for her. TOPAZES was sent to Pontefract and he could possibly be showing the signs of a long hard season or that the handicapper is in control of him right now. He ran well again to take fifth and he is entered in the Horses in Training Sale at the end of the month. Our last runner was FAR GONE and after a long lay off it was good to see this little filly back on the track. She chased the leaders and as we thoughT she might she just got tired in the last furlong or so to finish eighth. It was an encouraging re-appearance and this filly certainly has the ability to win a race.
Today we have seen to newcomers hit the track in the nice filly PIQUANTE and PINKALICIOUS who both ran in the first division of the maiden at Leicester. PIQUANTE is related to winners at around 1m and showed up promisingly on her racecoursedebut. She was given a nice introduction and is a filly that should hopefully go close next time.PINKALICIOUS was always in midfield and was pushed along halfway. She just weakend with two furlongs left to run which could be due to tiredness and fitness. She is sure to come on from the run like most of our two-year-olds do. MEZZANISI was again unlucky in that he finished like a train but he was stuck on the rails and poor Hayley could not get the horse out but he was a certain winner if she had got the gap. ARTSU ran another good race but could not manage to reel in the winner. It was another good run from him and can only enhance his value as he heqads for the Horses in Training Sales at the end of the month. Our final runner of the day was MOGGY and she a nice introductory race and is sure to come on from the run. She ran quite green early on and it was nice to see her run well as she is a real sweetie.
Tomorrow we introduce two nice two year old colts at Nottingham. The first is ADVISOR who was due to run at Haydock a fortnight ago but was withdrawn because of the firm ground. He is a lovely individual and we expect a good run from him. The next is BIN END who will be really nice next year once he has matured. He has been doing nice work at home and it is time for him to hit the racecourse and we are sure he will give a very good account of himself here.
FRIDAY 3RD OCTOBER
Yesterday we had four runners, three at Newmarket and one at Salisbury. THE BETCHWORHT KID was our first runner and he was upped into listed class after his recent Doncaster win.He ran a really good race but this faster surface would not have been to his liking. He moved through to have every chance just over three furlongs out, but he seemed slightly reluctant to fully let himself down and he came home in third. He could now possibly go for the November Handicap and we will just pray for rain for him. HOH MIKE certainly seemed to have conditions in his favour but he was never really going and was always to the rear. He was soon pushed along and was never any trouble to the leading pack. Our final runner was DIRECT DEBIT who it was really pleasing to see on the track again and he ran a nice race after a long lay off. He was always up with the pace and looked as though he just got tired entering the last furlong or so. He has taken the race well and he should go much closer next time. Our only other runner of the day was SEA CHORUS who had traveled to Goodwood. She was given every chance out in front and turned in a much better effort on this drop back in trip. She certainly would have appreciated more juice in the ground but she still looks to be held by the handicapper.
Today we have seen a nice introductory run from HALFWAY HOUSE who is bred to want further. He was always up with the leading group and just dropped back inside the final furlong to finish fifth. It was a nice run and he is sure to come on from this. BALLANTRAE was slightly disappointing after a good win last time but sadly for her the rain just did not arrive as she is a different filly on the softer surface.
Tomorrow we run LA ADELITA and MONEYCANTBUYMELOVE in the valuable fillies sales race. It is quite hard to separate them as they are both nice fillies and to win this would be awesome as the prize money is fantastic. Later on the card we have KING'S BASTION running andI am sure he will give his usual consistent effort and hopefully he will get some more rain to help his chances. At Wolverhampton we are pleased to see the re-appearance of STAR CHOICE who has had some niggley problems that have kept him off the track. We are hoping to see good effort from him here and hopefully he will give a good account of himself. Our only other runner is BRAE HILL in the Tote Two Year Old Trophy at Redcar He has been in good form after his recent third at Doncaster and we are hoping that he can go two better in conditions that should be far more to his liking.
WEDNESDAY 1ST OCTOBER
We have just seen GOLDRENCED break her maiden tag by winning at Newcastle. It was a tough old slog for her and she was always traveling well on the very heavy ground. When she was asked to go she went gamely to the front and she kept sticking her neck out but she was clearly getting tired and thankfully the line just came at the right time for her. We will see how she has taken this race before deciding on further plans for her. She is entered again on Monday but I think this may just come to soon for her. SAVANNAH POPPY was slightly unlucky and seemed to get stuck in the mud. She was always up with the leading two and she seemed to take a while to get going and was running on well at the end but the line came to soon for her and she had to settle for second.
Thursday we have runners at two meetings. At Goodwood we send SEA CHORUS who should as long as the ground is suitable should have a good chance in the fillies only handicap. She has been in good form at home and so hopefully she will run well. At Newmarket we have three runners which include the recent Doncaster winner THE BETCHWORTH KID who is fantastic form at home but again I would like to see some more rain for him to give him an even better chance. Also on the card we have HOH MIKE who the conditions at present should suit. It would be lovely to see this particular horse find his form again and get his head in front. Finally we have the re-appearance of an old Favorite DIRECT DEBIT who runs in the last. He is a real tryer so he will always give a good account of himself but he may just need the run. On Friday we have just runners at Newmarket in BALLANTRAE who won nicely at Doncaster and a some what impressive fashion and so we are hopeful of another big run from her. She has been upped in class so fingers crossed she will give a good account of herself. We also have HALFWAY HOUSE making his racecourse debut. He has been doing some nice work at home and should give a good effort She is sure to come on from the run.
We had some devastating news to contend with this week when the yard cats Cheryl and Nadine went missing. Fitzroy House has had some very long faces walking about after they disappeared on Sunday. Thankfully they were found by a neighbour who took them to our local vets and we went to collect them today. It was fantastic to get them back if only to put the smile back on Milk it Mick's face.
