SEE WHERE YOU ARE IN THE - SIX TO FOLLOW - LAST UPDATED ON 28TH JULY
MONDAY 1ST SEPTEMBER
It was a quiet week last week runners wise and we did not really spring into action until Thursday when INK SPOT went up to Ayr. He was settled towards the rear of the field and was staying on at the end. It was another sound effort from the horse who in on higher mark due to his consistent efforts. He has returned from Scotland and has taken the race well and we will now have to find another opportunity for him. KING'S BASTION was our only runner on Friday at Chester. He made his effort on the wide outside on the turn for home. He was trying in the later stages of the race
and his effort is better than the result indicates. He would certainly have liked the ground softer and hopefully he will get his conditions now the autumn has arrived. HOUSE OF LORDS has proved to be a frustrating individual as he works so well at home. He seemed to get outpaced and dropped away tamely. He could be next victim to wear blinkers! On Saturday we two runners and MEZZANISI gave another consistent display taking third. He was held up early on and moved up to dispute the lead two furlongs out. He looks as though he may appreciate the step up again to a mile and a half. FURNACE was our only other and he showed he was back to his best scoring a victory at Chester. FURNACE had not won since his debut two years ago. He travelled well throughout and found plenty under pressure to hold off his rivals. Yesterday our only was CHIC RETREAT and she had been working well at home. She was always handily and then just dropped away. Hayley felt that the filly had just got tired in the last furlong.
Tomorrow our only runner is BATTLE OF HASTINGS at Goodwood. He loves the soft ground and hopefully will run a nice race after his previous victory. On Wednesday we have RAMPRAKASH running in an apprentice race where we hope that he will have a good chance. He ability he just need to use it.
WEDNESDAY 27TH AUGUST
We have had no runners for a couple of days but we worked the horses this morning on the Peat Moss gallops. The first group to come up was KINGS BASTION who worked with FURNACE. KING'S BASTION has been declared to run on Friday at Chester where we hope he will like the turning track. FURNACE looked in good order and he too will run at Chester on Saturday if he gets a run in the race.
KING'S BASTION AND FURNACE
BAHAMIAN BABE
BAHAMIAN BABE worked on her own and she looked to be in good shape. We have no plans for her at present and she was ridden by her usual work partner Kelly Webster who is sadly leaving us on Saturday after nine years of service. It will be really sad to see her go but she is going to join Amy Weaver so we wish her loads of luck and happiness.
BRIGHT WIRE, RED HORSE AND HALFWAY HOUSE
BRIGHT WIRE worked really well under Finbarr Savage who has come back to join the Fitzroy team and he finished just in front of RED HORSE and HALFWAY HOUSE. Sadly he was due to run on Friday at Sandown but due to the amount of runners he could not get a run.
CHIC RETREAT, CAUGHT ON CAMERA AND EARTHSHINE
Hayley led this group over six furlongs on CHIC RETREAT and this filly was always traveling well and did not have to be asked to do a lot to keep up with her work whilst CAUGHT ON CAMERA still looked very green and had to be kept up to her work as she met the rising ground. She worked well but is still quite weak and will be a nice horse for next season. EARTHSHINE was settled behind the front two and also went nicely.
MOGGY AND PIQUANTE
MOGGY worked nicely in this group and she is a real tryer. She went well upsides with PIQUANTE and they look to be two improving fillies.
MISS BROWN TO YOU
MISS BROWN TO YOU has not long returned to us after a spell at grass. She went well on her own and is a very nice filly for the backend of the season.

HOUSE OF LORDS AND MEZZANISI
HOUSE OF LORDS again worked well and he is due to run on Friday at Sandown where hopefully he can put behind him his poor performance last time at Windsor where the ground was just to soft for him. MEZZANISI is due to run on Saturday at Ripon and he also worked well and is a real tryer.
RAMPRAKASH AND GOLDRENCHED
RAMPRAKASH did and easy piece of work with GOLDRENCHED and he went well ahead of his possible runs at Lingfield on Monday or Brighton and Kempton on Wednesday. GOLDRENCHED went nicely in behind and she looks as though she is going the right way to be entered up soon.
MONDAY 25TH AUGUST
On Saturday we had high hopes for MONEYCANTBUYMELOVE who was running at Beverley. She had made a promising debut when third at Newmarket but the form from the race has not worked out particularly well with defeats for the second and fourth who have run since. She was close enough turning in but looked to be already held with two furlongs to go and had to settle for fourth. She has taken the race well and we will have to come up with another plan for her, where hopefully she will break her maiden tag. Our only other runner on the card at Beverley was HOH MIKE and he was soon outpaced in rear and never picked up. He is a smart five furlong specialist and it has to be said that he is definitely better on the firmer ground which he certainly did not get here. BRAE HILL looks to be finding his form again. He was too keen when upped to this trip on easy ground last time. He dictated the early pace of the race and looked beaten when taken on soon after halfway. He rallied well and was closing down the winner all the way to the line. He looked as though he would have been in front in another stride or two. He has taken the race well and should add to his career wins hopefully again this season. Yesterday we had two runners at Yarmouth in SAVANNAH POPPY and GOLDEN BISHOP. SAVANNAH POPPY is becoming frustrating to follow as she has been tried over different trips and always seems to be running on when the race is over. Things did not go her way last time at Nottingham and we had hoped that she would travel stronger over this longer trip as her maiden win came at 7f in soft ground. We are hopeful that she will win again this season as she does have ability. GOLDEN BISHOP was dropped into claiming company and he provided us with our 55th winner of the year. He made virtually all the running and he had shown fair form in a couple of course handicaps. He had no problems with the drop in trip and although the placed horses were closing in on him as the line came but the race was already won. It was a sad day for his groom Anna Kamper-Blower as he was claimed after the race and so some tears were shed. Our only other runners on Sunday were at Ovrevoll in Norway. REGIME sadly could not add to his tally of wins and finished sixth. He did not really handle the track Jamie felt that he would have probably ridden him differently if he was to ride the race again. DANCING ABBIE managed to gain her first listed victory in great fashion winning the race nicely. They are both due back today and we will see how they both are before making further plans.
We have a quiet week coming up with ARTSU being our only runner today. He should love the conditions at Ripon and hopefully will give a good account of himself. Our next runner looks like being INK SPOT who could head up to Ayr on Thursday.
We do have some sad news, ART CONNOISSEUR will not run again this season. He has sustained an injury to his off fore cannon bone and although it is not to serious it would be serious enough to explain his poor run on Friday and is enough to keep him off the track for the rest of the season. He will be back next season a stronger horse and could be aimed at the Craven Stakes.
FRIDAY 22ND AUGUST
Yesterday we had FURNACE running at Great Leigh's. He ran a really nice race from a bad draw and will appreciate the return to the turf on hopefully fast ground which he will struggle to find at present. Today we have seen ART CONNOISSEUR run in the Gimcrack which was rerouted from York to Newbury. Sadly we do not feel that the ground had probably dried up enough for him and he did not show the turn of foot that he did at Ascot. We have also seen EDDIE BOY run at Newbury and he ran a nice enough race considering he is still very green. He is certainly improving with his races and he should be a nice horse for the backend/next year. DOVE MEWS ran a nice race to grab fourth in what looked to be a good little nursery. She was given every chance but just could make no impression on the eventual winner. We are pleased with her run and she still has an entry in the Weatherbys Insurance two year old stakes which could be her next target if she come out of this race in good order. At Newmarket we have had a busy afternoon with five runners. ACT GREEN got us under way and we were pleased with the way she ran. She was always up with the pace early on and just failed to quicken. She looks as though she may appreciate more juice in the ground. SICILIANDO is certainly a horse who does not run as well as he works and Liam Jones who rode him felt that he was traveling well but just did not pick up when he was asked the question. We will see how he is before making another plan for him. We have had our first runner for Her Majesty the Queen and it was really pleasing the way he has run. He was always up with the pace and when asked the question he still looked a bit green but he stayed on well to take third place. The winner of the race looks to be a nice horse so it may turn out to be a fairly decent. CALYPSO CHARMS had been dropped in class and was running in claiming company and she did herself no favours at all by pulling to hard and she trailed in towards the rear of the field and our last runner SEA CHORUS looked as though she did not stay the one mile six furlongs which she was being tried over for the first time and the ground probably may have dried up a bit to much for her.We will see how she has taken the race before making further plans.
On Saturday we have our two horse that are setting off to Luton Airport for the flight to Norway which is scheduled for take off just after 11.00am. We feel that they both have really good chances of going close in the races they are in and they are due to run on Sunday and fly back in to Luton on Monday afternoon. In this country on Saturday we have the nice filly MONEYCANTBUYMELOVE making her reappearance after her third earlier in the month at Newmarket. We feel she has come on alot from the run and we are hopeful that she will go close here at Beverley tomorrow morning. Later on the card we have BRAE HILL running at Windsor and he should have a good solid chance in his race. On Sunday we have GOLDEN BISHOP who has been dropped in claiming company taking his chance and looks as though the top weight would be his biggest danger. We also have SAVANNAH POPPY who was unlucky in running last time and so hopefully she will not have any traffic problems in the race Sunday afternoon.
WEDNESDAY 20TH AUGUST
On Monday we hit the 54 winners mark since the 1st January including our all weather and jump winners thanks to MONTRACHET. She was one of two runners we had at Windsor. CAUGHT ON CAMERA was making her racecourse debut and she ran very green early in the race and had to be pushed along early on. She picked up a bit in the final stages of the race. Hayley Turner who rode her said she was quite inexperienced but she will have learned alot and will come on from the run. She is a nicely bred filly by Red Ransom and looks to be a nice filly for next year. MONTRACHET ran back over a mile and she bounced back to her best and saw the trip out strongly. She was given a lovely ride by Steven Drowne who was riding his first winner for us. Earlier in the day we had GOLD PROSPECT running and although he did not win he showed some improvement from his previous efforts. The race was not probably run to suit him but hopefully it will not be to long before he is back in winning ways. BUBSES BOY was one of two runners we sent to Yarmouth and he found the pace a bit to strong for him early on and was running on in the later stages of the race but ran into some trouble and had to be swerved to avoid the trouble. WRITINGONTHEWALL gave a much better account of himself but I had fancied himto go a lot closer after the way he had worked in the first time visor and he looked as though he was going to be a real danger but just faded inside the final furlong which was a shame.
We have one runner tomorrow at Great Leighs in FURNACE who seems to have come on from his run and we are hopeful should have a good chance. It has been a quiet week for us with York being abandoned but we have had something to keep us amused in the shape of Cheryl and Nadine two kittens that have been brought to keep the rodents under control. They are named after Nick Bell's two favorite band member in Girls Aloud and like these two the kittens are very cute.
CHERYL
On Friday we return to full on action with two runners at Newbury in the shape of EDDIE BOY who is a nice big backward two year old colt and the filly that I have liked in her work DOVE MEWS who has a tough task in a fifteen runner nursery. We also have five runners at H.Q. where Her Majesty the Queens horse FOUR WINDS makes his racecourse debut. He has twenty other runners to contend with but we like him and we are hopeful that he will run to his best. We also have a nice two year old by Haafhd making her racecourse debut in the shape of ACT GREEN and she has been working nicely and we expect a nice run from her. Later on the card we have SICILIANDO who runs in a nursery and he has been showing promise on the gallops again along with CALYPSO CHARMS who has been dropped into claiming company and she should run well. Our last runner of the day is SEA CHORUS who has bottom weight in what is probably one of her toughest races so far but she should like the conditions and her chance would be helped if we had some more rain.

NADINE
Today was another work day and the boss was joined on the gallops by apprentice trainer Nick Bell. The horses worked up th Summer Gallops and they all looked ot have worked really well.
ZIGGY AND RUBY
The first one to come up was HOH MIKE who looked in fantastic form ahead of his race at Beverley on Saturday.

HOH MIKE
FOUR WINDS who as we have already mentioned runs on Friday and he was joined in work by BRAE HILL who could possibly run on Saturday at Windsor.

BRAE HILL AND FOUR WINDS
Our next group to come up was EDDIE BOY who runs on Friday and he was joined by a nice two year old by Dubai Destination called HALFWAY HOUSE who was having his first outing up the gallops and BATTLE OF HASTINGS who has possible engagements coming up at either Newmarket on Saturday or Newcastle on Monday. He was ridden in work by Malin Holmberg who starts on the apprentice course next week to gain her apprentice jockeys license at the racing school.

EDDIE BOY, HALFWAY HOUSE AND BATTLE OF HASTINGS
The next group to come up consisted of three really nice fillies who are real exciting prospects. Hayley rode DOVE MEWS who went nicely ahead of her run at Newbury and she was joined by the easy moving BALLANTRAE who certainly is shaping into a very nice filly and her previous outing should certainly be forgotten and MONEYCANTBUYMELOVE who will on this evidence give a good account of herself when she runs at Beverley on Saturday.
DOVE MEWS, BALLANTRAE AND MONEYCANTBUYMELOVE
FONTEGIUSTA who is a big filly and will certainly be nicer for next year did a nice first piece of work and she was joined by PIQUANTE who is a nice filly belonging to Highclere Thoroughbred Racing who again is still slightly on the weak side. It was the first time the fillies had been on the gallops and both went and handled it very well finishing nicely together.

PIQUANTE AND FONTEGIUSTA
REGIME is off to Norway on Saturday and he did his final piece of work in good fashion under our head Lad Richard Simpson.

REGIME
It was nice to see GOLDRENCHED back on the gallops after her break in the summer and she worked well with GOLDEN BISHOP who again worked really well. He is penciled in to run at either Yarmouth on Sunday or Ripon on Monday.

GOLDRENCHED AND GOLDEN BISHOP
HOUSE OF LORDS again worked nicely when he came passed me and he worked in partnership with MEZZANISI who is a really lovely horse. We have no plans for these two at present but hopefully it will not be long before we see them on the track again.
HOUSE OF LORDS AND MEZZANISI
Our final group to work consisted of DANCING ABBIE who was having her final piece of work before she heads off to Norway with REGIME and she worked very nicely with JUNIPER GIRL who it was really great to see back on the gallops after her long lay off. She worked really well and hopefully she will have no further problems and it will be full steam ahead with our Northumberland Plate Winner and fingers crossed she will be able to pick up a decent race at the backend of the season as she certainly deserves to.

JUNIPER GIRL AND DANCING ABBIE
MONDAY 18TH AUGUST
On Friday we sent three runners up to Nottingham. SAVANNAH POPPY was very unlucky in her race as it looked as though she was very unlucky as she met trouble in running when trying to close approaching the furlong mark. With a better run she might have been second, and she hopefully will be winning again before long. MARYQUEENOFSCOTS ran another disappointing race which is such a shame as she is a real sweetie. I am not sure what the plan is with her now but hopefully if she does run again she will be able to show the same ability that she showed last season when she won her maiden in good fashion. We were absolutely thrilled with SUMMERS LEASE and a big well done has to go to her lad Jim Parker who absolutely adores the horse. She certainly seems to get more attention than Jim's girlfriend Caroline and Jim has done a fantastic job with this filly. The filly's appearance on the racetrack had been delayed by a pelvic injury, but she had been working nicely at home. She was given time to find her feet by Hayley Turner but she picked up well when asked and she is sure to improve on this first run. At Newmarket we introduced a newcomer called RED HORSE and he ran quite green early on and took a while to work out what he was supposed to be doing. He is a horse that we like and he will definitely come on from his run. JUST LIKE A WOMAN was held up and when asked for an effort she seemed to be unable to quicken. We are not sure if the ground was just to tacky for her but she has taken the race well and we will hopefully find a winning opportunity for her shortly.
On Saturday we headed up north to Ripon where ITALIAN GODDESS proved to be a big disappointment. She raced keenly early on and with four furlongs to she was soon ridden and was soon beaten. It is a big disappointment as she had some decent form early on in the season. GULL WING had to be withdrawn from her intended race due to the drying ground and that left us with two runners at Newbury. LA ADELITA was making her racecourse debut and she ran a cracking race to grab fifth. She shaped with promise getting outpaced midrace before lengthening well in the final furlong. She will come on from the race and hopefully she is a winner in the making. KINGS BASTION gave another solid effort to take third place in his race He seems to be suited to the soft ground and he raised his game again after being well beaten on Ascot's firmer ground last time. RAMPRAKASH gave a better account of himself but it was still not good enough and he may be dropped in class on his next run.
Today we have a new two year old making her debut at Windsor in CAUGHT ON CAMERA. She has been working well and hopefully she will give a good account of herself. Our best chance is probably MONTRACHET who should run well at Windsor and the conditions should be in her favour. At Yarmouth we have two runners in BUBSES BOY who will hopefully show he has learned something from his recent Newcastle effort and WRITINGONTHEWALL who will wear a visor for the first time. This seem to help in his work on Saturday and he worked nicely. Our only other runner is GOLD PROSPECT and I am hopeful that he will try his best as he is certainly capable of winning this race.
We worked the horses on Saturday on the Summer Gallop and alot of them were having there final piece of work before York. Sadly as it turned out BAHAMIAN BABE and ART CONNOISSEUR have had to miss out on the races due to the heavy ground at York which is a shame as they work so well.
ART CONNOISSEUR AND ARTSU
ART CONNOISSEUR worked really nicely and he was given a nice lead by ARTSU and they quickened up together when they joined the rising ground.
HOH MIKE
HOH MIKE was doing a solo spin and he went nicely under his regular work rider Ian Smith ahead of his possible participation in a listed race at Beverley on Saturday.

BAHAMIAN BABE
BAHAMIAN BABE worked well doing a solo spin under Kelly Webster and sadly we need to find another option for her after bypassing York due to the heavy ground.

EDDIE BOY, BUBSES BOY AND SICILIANDO
EDDIE BOY went nicely and BUBSES BOY looked in good form ahead of his run at Yarmouth and SICILIANDO who looked in good form ahead of his run at Newmarket.

CAUGHT ON CAMERA, ACT GREEN, CHIC RETREAT AND EARTHSHINE
CAUGHT ON CAMERA worked really well under Jack Sherwood who is with us on work experience and ACT GREEN again impressed ahead of her possible run at Newmarket on Saturday along with CHIC RETREAT and EARTHSHINE who settled really well under Tom Hemsley as she has been quite keen when she has worked before.

REGIME
REGIME worked well ahead of his run at Ovrevoll which is in Norway on Sunday. The track has had plenty of rain which should suit him and we are keeping everything crossed for a big run from him.

METAPHORIC
METAPHORIC worked nicely ahead of his run at York on Wednesday where conditions should be in his favour and we are hopeful he will again find his head in front.

WRITINGONTHEWALL AND INK SPOT
I was impressed with the WRITINGONTHEWALL worked with the visor applied for the first time and he went really very nicely in partnership with INK SPOT who also worked well ahead of his possible run at Newmarket on Saturday.
OAT CUISINE AND MONTRACHET
OAT CUISINE worked really well but sadly due to the heavy ground she will now not run at York and MONTRACHET looked to be in really good form ahead of her run at Windsor tonight.
THURSDAY 14TH AUGUST
Last night we had one runner at Hamilton when BADALONA took part in what looked to be a tough little contest. Our Filly was traveling well two out when looking a danger and although she kept on the winner kept on far too well and disappointingly for her, she was second again. She is due to return from Hamilton today and we will give her an easy few days before picking her up again. Today so far we have been luckless with no winners to report on. BARBARY BOY was given every chance and looked as though he was going to do something with a furlong and half to go but dropped back to claim fifth place. We will see how he has taken the race before making further plans for him although he is going to love the soft ground that is around at present. BUSSELL ALONG ran a nice race. She shows plenty of speed in her homework but it looks as though she will definitely stay further as she was running on at the end. Andrew Elliott said she did not really like the soft ground. We have just seen SEA CHORUS run and she ran another good race but was hanging slightly when she came under pressure which did not make Jamie Spencer's job very easy. She was closing on the eventual winner who got first run and she just could not get back up to her and had to settle for second place. Our Last runner of the afternoon was REDFORD who was stepping up in Group company for the first time. He again looked to be one of the last of the bridle but when he did come off the bridle he did not really find much and seemed to take an age to get going and had to settle for fifth. It is a shame as we do think he is group class.
INK SPOT has lost out on his chance to go Newcastle due to the meeting being abandoned due to the wet conditions. On Saturday we have three runners at Newbury where GULL WING should be seen back to her best on the soft ground that she will relish. KING'S BASTION will also appreciate the softer conditions and he should hopefully go very close. Later on the card we introduce a very nice two year old called LA ADELITA who has been doing some nice work at home and fingers crossed she will give a good account of herself. At Newmarket with give a debut to BRIGHT WIRE who has been doing some pleasing work at home but is a horse that can be quite lazy. We like him alot and are hopeful that he will be a nice colt in the making. At Ripon we are hoping ITALIAN GODDESS can put her disappointing effort last time behind her and with conditions in her favour we are hopeful that we will see a different filly. RAMPRAKASH who has been gelded recently takes his chance and we are hoping that his gelding operation we make us see a different animal as his last two runs have been fairly disappointing. He is a nice colt and hopefully he will put his best foot forward for his army of owners who will travel to Lingfield to watch him run.
Yesterday the horses worked on the flat gallop which runs up the middle of the heath in front of the racecourse.

BRAE HILL, FOUR WINDS, BRIGHT WIRE AND RED HORSE
FOUR WINDS went really nicely under Jamie Spencer and he looks to be a horse that is getting better all the time with every piece of work he does. He sat upside BRAE HILL who looked in good form and BRIGHT WIRE who is due to run on Saturday at Newmarket was partnered by Hayley Turner. RED HORSE went well under Ben Morris and he is ready for his racecourse debut on Friday night at Newmarket.

METAPHORIC AND REGIME
METAPHORIC AND REGIME were partnered by our old timers Twyron LLoyd Jones and Richard Simpson. METAPHORIC led REGIME nicely over nine furlongs and he is being aimed at the Lonsdale Cup at York's Ebor Meeting next week. REGIME is due to go to Norway to run next Sunday in Ovrevoll.
OAT CUISINE, INK SPOT AND JUST LIKE A WOMAN
These three worked nicely together and all looked in really good order. OAT CUISINE has an entry coming up at York next week and INK SPOT sadly had to miss his intended race at Newcastle due to the waterlogged track. JUST LIKE A WOMAN went well and she will run at Newmarket on Friday night where hopefully she will like the conditions which did not seem to inconvenience her in her work.
KING'S BASTION AND FURNACE
KING'S BASTION worked well with FURNACE and he is due to run on Saturday at Newbury. FURNACE was entered in the same race but due to the wet weather he is not now taking his chance.
DOVE MEWS, CHIC RETREAT AND LA ADELITA
DOVE MEWS is a filly that impresses me every time she works and she again worked well here. She worked with CHIC RETREAT who is definitely going the right way and LA ADELITA sat in behind them ahead of her racecourse debut at Newbury on Saturday.
MONEYCANTYBUYMELOVE AND ACT GREEN
MONEYCANTBUYMELOVE showed she has come on from her run at Newmarket last week working very nicely and she was partnered by the unraced ACT GREEN ridden by Mr Gredley's jockey Neil Callan. ACT GREEN has done two pieces of really nice work over the last two weeks and she is a filly going the right way.
WEDNESDAY 13TH AUGUST
I am glad to say we have had a winner since my return when THE BETCHWORTH KID obliged last night at Nottingham. It was a real pleasing to see him at last get his head in front after some very consistent efforts. He seemed to relish the cut in the ground and he passed the long time leader Yossi inside the final furlong to score his victory. He has taken the race well and we will see how he is before making further plans. WOOD CHORUS we thought would love the soft ground at Salisbury and she led with two furlongs to go. She stayed on chasing leaders until weakened with over a furlong to go.
On Thursday we have a hat full of runners where we first head to Beverley where BUSSELL ALONG takes her chance. The penny is beginning to drop with her and we expect her to run well. At Salisbury we run the recent Newmarket winner SEA CHORUS who we are hoping can keep her winning run going and REDFORD who is stepped up in Group company. He is absolutely bouncing at home so a big run is expected from him. At Sandown we run BARBARY BOY who will love the soft ground and he should also expected to go close. Finally AURA heads to Great Leighs and hopefully she will be able to get a decent run of form going now as she has been in good form in her homework. On Friday INKIE heads up to Newcastle where he should hopefully be able to keep his decent run of form going. At the evening meeting at Newmarket where Boyzone are playing we introduce a nice two-year-old by Bachelor Duke called RED HORSE and he has been showing some decent form on the gallops at home and later on the card JUST LIKE A WOMAN reappears in what looks to be quite a decent little race. At Nottingham we have SAVANNAH POPPY, MARYQUEENOFSCOTS and we introduce the nice filly by Pivotal called SUMMERS LEASE who looks to be a very nice filly.
MONDAY 11TH AUGUST
Well I am back from France and after eating so much cheese and drinking plenty of Red Wine I am going to set about updating you on the weeks runners from Fitzroy starting back to Saturday where we had a fairly busy day. I was glad to see that SEA CHORUS had finally got of the mark after some very consistent efforts and gaining a victory for her very patient owners the Eclipse Partnership. Hopefully the experience of getting her head in front will boost her now into winning ways. The handicapper has raised her four pounds for her efforts which hopefully will not inconvenience her to much. She was not our only runner at Newmarket, we introduced a nice two year old called MONEYCANTBUYMELOVE who ran a very encouraging race first time out. She was held towards the rear in typical Jamie Spencer fashion and made some headway with a furlong to go and was running on nicely at the end. She looks to be an exciting prospect and fingers crossed she can keep improving. Our only other runner at headquarters was WRITINGONTHEWALL and it has to be said he has been something of a slight disappointment this year. He was slowly away and was asked for effort with two to go but weakened inside the final furlong. Hopefully with autumn approaching and the wet spells that we usually get, will be the key to him and we can get him back to winning ways. BAHAMIAN BABE headed up to Thirsk where on her form you would have given her a decent chance even though she was giving away a lot of weight. She seemed to hang left when she came under pressure and this undulating course may not have been to her liking but she ran another good race. I was surprised that NIGHT KNIGHT did not run better as he had been going nicely at home. He ran very green and looked very novicey. He is certainly a different horse than this run suggests and I am sure that you will see a better effort from him next time. Our only other runner at this meeting was MEZZANISI and Hayley had traveled from Thirsk where she had ridden BAHAMIAN BABE earlier in the afternoon to Doncaster to partner him. He ran well but he seems to take a while to get into his stride off a slowly run pace. He went to make his challenge a furlong and a half out, but was never quite getting there quick enough. He is a nice horse and is capable of winning more races.
On Sunday our runners did not run well at all with GULL WING trailing in at the rear of the field. She was always in touch but soon weakened and as soon as she did not having a winning or chance of being placed, Jamie eased her down. She is definitely a decent filly but she does seem to need plenty of cut in the ground which she will hopefully get in the next month or so. ITALIAN GODDESS was our only other runner at the meeting and she ran no better than GULL WING. She was leading with three furlongs to go and soon weakened. She was eased when she had no chance. She has taken the race well and has been entetered on Saturday at Ripon.
On Monday we sent GREAT CHARM up to Ripon where we hoped he would be able to keep his consistent run going. He finished second in his group but fourth over all in what looks like quite a good little race. In the evening we had DRESDEN DOLL at Windsor. She ran nicely on what was only her third start of the season making all and she definitely will progress from this run. She is capable of winning races so hopefully it will not be to long before she has her day.
Tuesday was a blank day with no runners and then on Wednesday we sent a two year old making his debut up to Newcastle called BUBSES BOY. He never really featured early on in the race, but made up some ground from halfway and a lot better show can be expected from him now he has learned something. MILANOLLO has proved to be quite disappointing and she was never at the races on Wednesday evening at Kempton.
Thursday saw the quick re-appearance of BONNE at Haydock and she found herself racing on the slower stand side of the course. She was edged towards the centre of the course from halfway but she never really picked up. TOPAZES accompanied BONNE on the box and he to failed to continue with his dazzling past efforts and could only manage sixth after weakening with two left to travel. I just hope that the handicapper has not got the measure of him after his string of wins. Later on the card ALLIED POWERS who had completed a hat-trick over middle-distances in the spring before having a break was running. He had finished behind Inventor and Daraahem on his return to action at Haydock last month and he managed to reverse placing's with Inventor here, but could not sustain his challenge late on after edging right. He is a horse that we feel holds ability and hopefully we can get him back into the groove of winning ways again before the season finishes as he will certainly like the autumn weather. We also had runners at Yarmouth where LOVEINANELEVATOR had her chance of winning entering the final two furlongs but flattened out towards the finish. She is quite harshly handicapped on her form and so hopefully we will be able to find another winning opportunity for her as she is such a sweet little filly. GOLDEN BISHOP was another runner at this particular meeting and after running two sound races on his previous visits to the course we thought he would have a good chance. He once again traveled well held up off the pace and he looked as though he was going to pick up the winner entering the final two furlongs but his effort just fizzled out inside the final furlong. In the evening sufficient rain had fallen for BARBARY BOY to take his chance at Sandowns evening meeting. He was held up towards th rear and was asked for effort with a furlong to go. He was driven and kept on to take third in what looks to be a good little contest. He could possibly run on Thursday again at Sandown. SECRET SOCIETY who had been disappointing on his first start made his reappearance at Folkestone and he had been working well at home so we expected a good run from him. He did not disappoint taking second going into the final furlong and putting six lengths between himself and the rest of the field. He certainly on this evidence has the ability to win a similar sort of race.
On Friday we had our first winner of the week when BATTLE OF HASTINGS obliged at Newmarkets July Course on the first race of the card at the evening meeting. I have always liked this horse as he seemed to work well at home and he really seems to have got his act together of late. He was held up and asked for effort with over a furlong to go and skipped into the lead as he passed the furlong marker to score his victory. He could possibly go for a nursery at Newcastle next. ARTSU had gone to Haydock and with the soft ground at the track we thought he would have a good chance as this seemed to have done the trick with him before. He ran quite keenly chasing the leaders and was ridden with two furlongs to go and weakened a furlong from home.
On Saturday it was the very successful Shergar Cup Meeting at Ascot which has been run for a while now with the English and Irish jockeys taking on the Rest of the World. We thought HIGHLAND LEGACY had a really good chance in the stayers event and he loomed up under Seb Sanders as though he could go and score a victory but after being slightly hampered two furlongs out he soon weakened. It is quite disappointing as we know he has the ability to be winning these staying races and he is better than his recent effort suggests he is. BALLANTRAE was being stepped up in class after her Folkestone win and was trying her hand in group company. She chased the leaders and was ridden with over two furlongs to go. She just weakened inside the final furlong to take ninth position.
Our final runner to report on was yesterday at Windsor when HOUSE OF LORDS was making a long awaited re-appearance. Sadly he did not run well which is a real shame as he had been working nicely at home and although he was slowly away and into his stride he recovered well and led after two furlongs. He was headed over two furlongs from home and was hard ridden but soon lost his place. He is a puzzling horse as he had been working really well in his home work.
We have had no runners today and tomorrow we send THE BETCHWORTH KID to Nottingham where if things are in his favour he will run well. On Wednesday we have BADALONA who is heading to Scotland to Hamilton Park for what looks to be quite a decent little race and we also have WOOD CHORUS trying her hand in listed company in what is a decent listed event.
SATURDAY 2ND AUGUST
On Wednesday after the withdrawal of ALLIED POWERS our only Goodwood runner was MARYQUEENOFSCOTS. She ran disappointingly and Hayley felt she did not handle the undulations of the track. She has taken the race well and we will come up with another plan for her In the evening we had BUSSELL ALONG running at Leicester. She ran well not getting the clearest of runs and she is learning all the time. She is still slightly on weak side but she appears to be taking her racing well. On Thursday we had GOLD PROSPECT running and he has been disappointing of late. He did not give a good show here gain and tactics for him are being changed next time to having him make the running. Hopefully this will make him get his act together because he certainly has ability. On Friday we sent BONNE up to Thirsk to run in the apprentice race. Sadly BONNE missed the break and was switched left to challenge and could never get to the winner. She has been progressing and it would be no surprise if she were to prove better than this. Last night we did not have any runners at the Newmarket evening meeting but we did send two up to Haydock. ARTSU was very unlucky in that he struggled to gain a clear run and ran on to take fifth. He will have his day again and he seems to love this softer ground. MONTRACHET ran well to take third place. She hung in her race but appears to be fine this morning.
Today we have a busy day again with three runners at Newmarket We introduce to the track a nice Pivotal filly called MONEYCANTBUYMELOVE who has been working nicely at home. WRITINGONTHEWALL would appreciate more rain to aide his chances but he also has been working nicely. Finally we finish here with SEA CHORUS who should also give a good account of herself. At Thirsk we have BAHAMIAN BABE running who should have a great chance in the nursery. She has a lot of weight to carry but given her ability hopefully she will not find it any inconvenience. We also introduce NIGHT KNIGHT to the races for the first time and he is a fine looking individual who will definitely come on from the run. He has been going nicely at home and we have liked what we see. Our final runner is MEZZANISI who was so unlucky last time. He is in great form and hopefully he will show this on the track this afternoon. Tomorrow we run GULLWING who should have a great chance providing the ground is soft enough for her and ITALIAN GODDESS who will also appreciate good ground. On Monday we have GREAT CHARM who is in fantastic form running at Ripon a track he seems to like and DRESDEN DOLL running at Windsor.
Today the horses worked on the Wartered Gallop again and we had eight groups coming back.

FOUR WINDS, SECRET SOCIETY AND BATTLE OF HASTINGS
These three colts worked well with FOUR WINDS looking to go the best under Jamie Spencer. All three are ready to run and have entries.

RED HORSE, BRIGHT WIRE AND BRAE HILL
BRAE HILL looks to have taken his belding operation well and RED HORSE and BRIGHT WIRE look to be progressing in the right way.
DRESDEN DOLL, GREAT CHARM AND BARBARY BOY
DRESDEN DOLL worked well ahead of her run at Windsor on Monday night and GREAT CHARM also pleased and he will now head to Ripon on Monday. BRABARY BOY worked well also and he just needS the rain and lots of it.
BALLANTRAE, ACT GREEN AND FLEUR DE LIS
BALLANTRAE looks to have come on from her win at Folkestone and she worked very nicely. ACT GREEN looks to be a nice filly in the making and I was impressed with how nicely she went as she is still quite green and novicey. FLEUR DE LIS was a bit of a dissapointment and she worked very similarly to the way she ran at Newmarket.

HOUSE OF LORDS
HOUSE OF LORDS thankfully passed his stalls test last night and he can now run. He looks to be in great form in his work and I am sure it will not be long before we see him back on the track
INK SPOT AND TOPAZES
INK SPOT looks in terrific form and we are just praying for rain for him now. He gave a lead to TOPAZES who is also in terrific form.
BADALONA AND SUMMER'S LEASE
These two fillies worked particularly nicely together and SUMMERS LEASE would not be to far off a run. BADALONA is entered at Kempton on Wednesday and I am sure she will run if the boss feels this is the right race for her.

AURA AND MILANOLLO
AURA worekd well in partnership with MILANOLLO and they seemed to be relishing the ground on the gallops. MILANOLLO is eneterd at Kempton on Wednesday and I am sure that AURA will star being pencilled in for entries now.
The website will not be updated for the next week as we have no one today it as I will be on holiday in France Yipee!!!!!!!
